[AN INTRODUCTORY] [a hand-crafted gift, just for you!] MEM! - about-(her-route/their-story/its-involvement) hello, welcome to redroute, i'm making this memo for you to serve as a reference page as you read up on this project i've been working on since (roughly) mid-april 2025. i'm going to pretend like you typed something on your keyboard and put it in bolded text and answer that... if you didn't, uh, well... too bad? oh, by the way, click on text that starts with a >! ...but not all at once, please, for reading's sake.> [WHAT IS REDROUTE?]
i'm glad you asked! i won't go into too much details here, since i would rather you seek out this information yourself instead of having it be directly handed to you. ...the information isn't hard to find regardless, but! redroute was originally meant to be a companion piece for the jouse 3 that very quickly spiraled into a deeply personal project. i think the tipping point was when i started to write memo7, or when i had originally canned it on the server... oh, yeah, redroute was going to be an actual build on the same server as jouse 3. as you can see from some of the memo backgrounds, a lot of areas for it were finished! ...but it was cancelled due to burnout. ...but, i brought it back a few months later, when i had started to work on the jouse video! while the video was being worked on, redroute was actively under... "development?" is that the right word... anyways, the important part is that a lot of what i had wasn't anywhere near finished. there are some minor discrepancies in the video, as i'm sure you've noticed the tower key was never used, nor was the blue text door open, but the memo inside of the core room is also separate here! i'm drawing out this question for too long, so i'll get to the real important bits for you to understand... (almost) everything here is entirely up to interpretation. this includes stuff like the physical appearance of characters and the timeline itself. despite what the project is... actually meant to be, i had always intended for this to be the case. uhhh... that's it for this one!> [WHAT IS DIR.HTML?]
dir.html, or as you would know it as, "the directory page," is where you will find everything readable.* ah... right... the big asterisk... well, not everything. some memos, as you see, are inaccessible due to being blanked out! i did this mainly to prevent people from skimming through everything and to incentivize reading deeper into the memos... particularly, the memys. you will find key words for memo and memx entries in some of the memys, and they are the titles of blacked out entries. the key words will look slightly different, so keep an eye out! you can use them by cross-referencing the name length with the key word, and putting in the url for it... i hope you've been paying attention to the urls! also, just a general rule of thumb for my entire website (gagingo.ing, not just redroute), desktop users can hover over any dotted underlined text... if you're on mobile, i'm sorry.> [IS THIS STILL BEING WORKED ON?]
yes... kinda. the main story (memo and memx) is entirely done, but i still write new memys from time to time. sometimes, one of my friends will write something and i put that in the memb section. i don't have a way to notify people about updates, so check back on dir.html every now and then, will 'ya?> [CAN I PLAY THE JOUSE?]
no. i have a backup of the server world, but that is 15.1 gb that i do not plan to distribute outside of people who have played on the server.> [WHAT'S THE INTENDED READING ORDER?]
generally, you read the memos from top to bottom, skipping blanked ones until you have the key words. so, for example, you would read memos 1-7a, then read memx1, 2, and 4, then jump to the memys. once you have a key word, you could go straight to the corresponding memo, but i recommend finishing the current one first... or finishing all of the memys, and keeping track of key words in a separate file. the membs are entirely optional, as they are not written by me, but they are still good i think! ultimately, though, the reading order is up to you! read however you want to, piece the story together your own way!> [IS THIS LIKE HOMESTUCK?]
redroute is not for you, please leave.> [OKAY, ALL DONE!]
good, because that's all you're getting. some of these questions were recieved from friends who have read redroute, so hopefully theirs would've helped you a bit more than mine. if there was something you wanted answered that wasn't listed here, assume that it is answered somewhere in the story... otherwise, find some way to contact me. anyways, get out there and enjoy. ...and if you finished redroute and really liked it, please share it with your friends. i don't have any way other than the jouse video to really get this out there.
